Lots of Learning !

Wow - we have had a great week !

Lots of hands on fun stuff for the kids - I think the rian and dreary skies brings everyone down. We have hit the books for the basics, bt have been listening to LOTS of stories about Captain Hook and his first landing here in Aus - so we went to Botany Bay to see his landing spot and read all the monuments and have a bit of fun.

We found a fun tree to pose with and then we learnt about the bugs that burrow into the trees and how the rings in the trunk indicate how old it is - they even tried to count the rings in one tree !!

We rolled down hills and ran and had lots of fun !

Then we went down to the beach for some shell collecting - we plan on drawing pictures of our finds in our nature journals next week.

To finish off the week we made origami whales ! (pics to come) - we stopped to watch the whale migration on the way home and actually saw one ! The kids were excited so we carried on the whale theme into Friday. Paper folding led to Kite making and we made each kid a kite - then they went up to the park to run with them ! They worked REALLY well and the kids had a blast !

I have been scrapping tonight - but will take pics and show you my efforts tomorrow !
